Thank you for this Michael. I always wondered about the Korngold’s passion for Christmas and hadn’t really appreciated that it’s a Viennese trait. Erich always insisted on decorating the tree himself and took enormous trouble wrapping presents and decorating the dining table. The recording of Julius is of course utterly priceless. Thank you for sharing it (as I doubt it will ever otherwise see any distribution)
Welcome to the Forbidden Music Blog – I’m pleased to see your comments for which I’m very grateful. It is a genuine thrill to think that there may be some aspect of Korngold that I may have eked out that was unfamiliar to you!
